THE PALACE AND THE FRESCOES
One's attention immediately turns to the XVIII th century front of the palace, bearing beatiful arches and the stairs, not to mention the wonderful garden. But paying close attention to the whole structure there are some architectural and iconographical elements that give a clue to the ancient plant and to the long period over which the estate has been modified.

The southern front still has part of the arches which once followed the downhill direction of the ground. Part of the porch has now been hidden by the flattening of the garden. This front is decorated by frescoes painted using the "grisailles" technique. Having been restored, today we may admire the "Lansquenets", fierce warriors bearing arms and armours. They once framed the windows of the fronts, one of which can still bee seen on the front facing the court. The front also has two horizontal fillets with friezes and medallions depicting both real and immaginary figures.

Also on the south front is the Virgin Mary with child (1470 circa) which has been ascribed to Jacopino Longo. The colours and the stroke are delicate and the frame is clearly gothic. On the East the remains of the San Sebastiano Chapel can be seen. Half burried and partially absorbed by the Palace is the San Sebastiano Chapel. The chapel and it's frescoes, depicting the Passion of Jesus, have been recently restored, making it possible to preserve a beautiful example of international gothic art.

THE COURT

A square court engraved by the palace and other rural buildings gives the mood of what once was an agricultural and feudal estate.
What once was the church of the village can still be seen in the middle of the court. Today the church tower with a sun-dial and a stone pendulum-clock and the fresco depicting the Annunciation are still preserved. The well, the stables with the carriages, the wooden porch, the barn and the hay-loft and the four-footed inhabitants make the court an evocative place to visit.
